Whispers in the candle light,
Shadows in the silent twilight:
They walk hand in hand.
Whispers in the midnight air,
Shadows flitting here and there:
It wasn't what they'd planned.
Two vessels on that raging strait,
Speeding arrows down the path of fate:
They'd never meant to join this way.
Two vespers in the rending wind,
Prisoners caught beneath an iron bind:
Their hearts are wont to stay.
Floundering in turbulent waters white,
Drowning beneath mighty nature's bite:
Oh the trials of souls in love.
Born upon a tide out to distant seas,
Hopelessly striving for the shore with unheard pleas:
Now they plummet like some wounded dove.
Distant figures in the fog-laden night,
Barren branches in a forest of blight:
Still they struggle ever on.
Blinded in the embrace of heavens' dark,
Deaf in the absence of sounds to hark:
Will they ever meet the dawn?
Knives and swords in angered fist,
Cuts and gashes in arms and wrist:
Their love slowly bleeds to death.
Bound tightly by cords 'round their chest,
Constricted by fastenings 'bout the breast:
Can their love take another breath?
Mother and father, sister and twin,
Oh how they come to call their love a sin:
Now the spark slowly begins to dim.
Friends and cohorts with lying tongue,
False the comforting words they've flung:
Will it begin to smolder within?
A flame, a torch unseen,
A brand of light brilliant as the blade is keen:
The dying spark begins to catch a blaze.
A match thrown in by unexpected hand,
Cast before their feet on shifting sand:
Now the love passes its dying phase.
A raft is lowered beneath that churning froth,
A harness to sinking souls was brought:
And now the dove begins to fly.
Now come the teeth of jagged steel,
Thence their bonds were turned to meal:
Soaring bird above the clear blue sky.
A match is lit, a torch is burned,
A past is forgotten and the coin is turned:
Now they love in harmony at last.
The darkness quelled, the light renewed,
The branches lush with growth once hewed:
Love is freed from its crippling cast.
Gone are the knives and swords in fists,
Cleaned of blood are their arms and wrists:
Now love rejoices in its purest form.
The winds die down, the rains fade,
Turmoil surrenders once more to peaceful glade:
Finally they've made it through the storm.
No normal love by foolish means,
Still their desire is bless'd clean:
Two angels in heaven's embrace.
Face to face, heart to heart,
Born in secret, now to never part:
They too, are in God's good grace.
Whispers in the candlelight,
Shadows in the silent twilight:
Two lovers wrapped in passionate caress.
Whispers in the midnight air,
Shadows flitting here and there:
Happy to have survived duress.
Now turn the page, and the story ends,
Life is over with all amends:
They lie happily side by side.
The book closes, and roses fall,
Chrysanthemums and flowers of all:
Beauty adorns the grave where they've lied.
Wraith
wow kai that was fantastic. i never new you had such a talent. smiles.
Whispers in the candle light,
Shadows in the silent twilight:
A lone figure in the graveyard lingering a moment,
Their love found as chains dropping to the ground in that deepest night,
‘Twas so deep a night when on currents of air the winged dove took flight,
Realization dawning that by their release found he knows his life no accident.
